Science Gallery Melbourne
At the gateway to Melbourne Connect, the University of Melbourne’s innovation precinct, the $110 million Science Gallery Melbourne features over 3,500 sqm of immersive exhibition and learning spaces. Cultivates STEM engagement through creating a dynamic innovation ecosystem designed to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange. that supports both cultural and commercial programming, it activates the university precinct.
Supporting the University’s broader innovation ecosystem, Science Gallery Melbourne bridges scientific research and public engagement, offering contemporary STEM education through interdisciplinary programs and creating pathways for young people into STEM careers and higher education.
Maytrix informed planning and delivered design documentation and procurement for the cafés, as well as multiple meeting, event, and function spaces across Science Gallery Melbourne and the Melbourne Connect Innovation Precinct. These spaces were designed for flexibility in both scale and operational model, enabling commercial operations to evolve alongside the gallery and precinct. Hospitality was embedded from the outset to activate the precinct, encourage collaboration, and deliver sustainable outcomes.

Springvale Library Community Hub Redevelopment
A civic hub integrates library, council, cultural and hospitality services in one of Australia’s most diverse suburbs. Co-delivered the Business and Operations Plan to launch this multi-faceted community hub in the heart of a culturally rich population. The plan synchronises programming, retail and event functions, supporting efficient staffing, seamless service and vibrant cultural activation.
Melbourne Connect Innovation Precinct Development
Melbourne Connect transforms the University of Melbourne’s Parkville campus into a $425M innovation precinct connecting academia, research, industry and community. Scoped and documented retail and F&B facilities, defined the operating framework and managed procurement. The strategy enables day–night activation, sustaining collaboration, engagement and civic vibrancy.
HOTA Commercial Development Strategy
The HOTA precinct redefines the Gold Coast’s cultural landscape, transforming former civic offices into a leading arts and lifestyle destination. Maytrix delivered the comprehensive HOTA Commercialisation Strategy, defining strategic, cultural, and commercial priorities for the precinct’s staged development. This strategy underpinned the realisation of the $60.5M HOTA Gallery and set the framework for integrating creative industries, event capacity, and hospitality. The project advances regional identity, economic development, and cultural engagement, positioning the Gold Coast as a leader in Australia’s cultural economy.

Music Market Development
Music Market anchors Collingwood Yards as a $22M hub for Victoria’s live music industry, combining co-working, performance and songwriting spaces with sector leadership. Maytrix delivered the business case and operations plan, establishing governance, programming and membership strategies. The precinct delivers space for 43 residents and 116 events, fostering Melbourne’s creative music community.

Fed Square Cloud Canopy Development
Maytrix defined the brief and led design engagement for the Cloud Canopy at Fed Square, Melbourne’s civic heart. Suspended at the apex, this innovative installation extends engagement and enables year-round use, opening new possibilities for programming, public participation, and hospitality integration. The Canopy’s lightweight hexagonal form provides shade, weather protection, and a striking visual identity. Maytrix worked with tenants and stakeholders to realise this dynamic public room, transforming the eastern edge into a vibrant civic node and reinforcing Fed Square’s role as a global cultural destination.

Bunjil Place Cultural Precinct Business Plan
A 10-year business plan supports Bunjil Place in becoming the civic and cultural heart of Melbourne’s south-east, uniting gallery, library and performing arts venues under a shared strategic vision. Maytrix led the delivery of the Bunjil Place vision and business plan to reframe operations across multiple culture;, commercial and civic functions. The comprehensive Business Plan identified opportunities for income diversification, service efficiencies and programming to drive regional vibrancy and tourism.
