The new $91.5 million Forensic Medicine and Coroner's Court Complex marks a significant milestone in the modernisation of forensic and coronial services for NSW. A collaboration between NSW Health and NSW Justice, the complex delivers a state-of-the-art facility designed to improve integration and responsiveness across services.
Challenged to develop a café concept appropriate to the sensitivities of the environment, Maytrix shaped the design resolution and led an engagement strategy focused on creating a welcoming, functional space for court users, families, and staff. The approach informed infrastructure planning, guided market engagement, and supported the procurement of an experienced operator to deliver a quality, service-led café aligned with precinct needs.
Relocating after 40 years in Glebe, the move to Lidcombe has modernised facilities, expanded coronial and forensic medicine services, and improved public access. As the largest facility of its kind, the multi-level complex brings together pathology, coronial functions and family support services under one roof, supporting coordinated, compassionate care.
Delivering a sensitive and highly functional public interface, the new complex redefines user experience within a justice and forensic setting. Maytrix shaped and deleivered a tailored café procurement strategy to attract a quality cafe operator to deleiver an offer that responds to the emotional and practical needs of court users, families, and staff. The result is a welcoming, service-focused space that enhances precinct amenity and contributes to a respectful, accessible environment for all users of this nationally significant facility.
Anchoring a purpose-built justice and forensic services facility, the new Forensic Medicine & Coroner’s Court Complex sets a new benchmark for coronial and forensic infrastructure in NSW. Relocated after four decades in Glebe, the $91.5 million multi-level complex enhances access, integrates family support services, and expands capacity for forensic pathology and coronial inquiry.
Maytrix has supported the delivery of over 15+ Health Infrastructure projects. Our approach, informed by our sector expertise, comprehensive experience in retail and food and beverage strategy, design and operations strategy, facilitated the delivery of a high-quality, service-oriented café that complements the complex’s sensitive and functional design. The facility strengthens collaboration between NSW Health Pathology and the Coroner’s Court, ensuring responsive and compassionate services for the community.
