Setting the standard in regional health care, the new $330 million state-of-the-art Eurobodalla Regional Hospital will deliver a significantly expanded Level 4 health facility to support the needs of the Eurobodalla Shire, from Narooma to Batemans Bay. The new health precinct will provide accessible, patient-centred healthcare, increased bed capacity, and centralised health services, with capacity for expansion to future-proof health services for the region.

Informed by market research, consumer surveys, and market sounding, Maytrix delivered a comprehensive retail strategy, scoping opportunities to foster engagement, collaboration, and contribute to the wellbeing of staff and users. Planned for scalability, the integrated approach to retail planning anticipates future demand and campus expansion, establishing a long-term framework to future-proof health services across the region.

The strategy and design brief establishes external connection and serviceable seating zones to enhance amenity, providing spaces for decompression and reflection, and embedded future retail opportunities to expand the retail offering. Functional relationships reframe logistics management and retail interface—aligning amenity and access with clinical flows, service efficiency, and user expectations.

The Eurobodalla Regional Hospital is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to transform how care is delivered across the region.
— Susan Pearce, Secretary, NSW Health

The new hospital delivers clinical excellence with inclusive, place-based design. The strategic approach to retail planning goes beyond transactional amenity, supporting health outcomes by enhancing the daily experience of staff, patients, and visitors. Logistics and back-of-house planning ensure seamless operations across the precinct, while tenancy zones have been configured to balance accessibility with clinical flow.

Designed to champion health, wellbeing, and cultural inclusion, the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital anchors a connected health precinct that integrates care, community, and Country. Our approach is informed through retail strategy and design supporting the delivery of major healthcare projects. This integrated strategy reflects the hospital’s broader role within the region—supporting access to healthcare, daily amenity, and future education and research capacity.

The $330M Eurobodalla Hospital delivers a Level 4 facility and pilots ‘Connecting with Country’. Maytrix developed the retail strategy and brief to align sustainable operations, logistics and wellbeing, supporting regional access and inclusion.

Connecting with Country

The design embraces the Connecting with Country framework’, a NSW government initiative embedding spatial and cultural awareness into every aspect of the site—from public gathering areas to material selection. Future-ready in scale and intent, the hospital creates a resilient health campus that supports education, research, and sustained community benefit—setting a national benchmark for regional care.
